COMING HOME

Let me tell you, there was this moment, boarding my flight, when I realized my whole life was about to change. I'm on the brink of something big, at the edge of some vague and unknown precipice...

I'm wearing the largest and most elaborate scarf I've ever owned and my hair is blowing in the wind—all I need is my sunglasses, but I lost those on Bondi. My mind is clear, thoughts concise, comfortable, mature, confident and completeI know what needs to be doneand suddenly, I'm invincible.
I arrived in Boise, and on the drive home my Dad hit a deer.
The car wasn't damaged but I swear that I heard a voice calling me from the dark, saying—welcome home, mother fucker!

To those of you who have not traveled—stop whatever it is that you are doing, and take heed: there is life out there, waiting.

And so The Bitter Eyes closes, for nowthough only to blink!
